Welcome to Mayesa’s BlogLast Minute Vacation Do’s and Don’ts: Make Your Last Vacation Hurrah Fun, Healthy and ActiveAugust 21, 2015
Do Pre-plan Meals It’s no secret that when on vacation, you are much more likely to dine out at restaurants. It’s a great idea to take a bit of time and look into where you’ll eat out and check out the menus online beforehand. This will give you a heads-up about the available options, allowing you to make healthier choices. Do Pack Healthy Snacks Stock up on grab-and-go snacks that you can bring with you on road trips, take along while sightseeing or nosh on at your vacation rental or hotel. Having healthy and great-tasting snacks easily within reach will help you resist the urge to buy overpriced, unhealthy snacks when hunger strikes! Don’t Stop Being Active If your hotel has a gym or pool, set aside 45 minutes to an hour for a quick workout— being active will keep you feeling energized, keep your metabolism moving and help you mentally get into a relaxed, vacation mode. Even better, engage the whole family in activities like hiking, touch football, beach volleyball, snorkeling or kayaking. Encourage all members of your family (including yourself!) to step outside their comfort zone and try a new physical activity. Do Indulge a Bit Moderation is key on vacation, just as it is in day-to-day life. Enjoy splurging a little – it’s vacation after all! A great piece of advice to remember is to save on calories where you can, and spend them on things that are really worth it. Just make good choices so you don’t come back feeling like you need a total reset. In the comments, let us know how you make healthy choices while on vacation. Or do you throw caution to the wind and use this time to break free from your healthy chains?
